“ They don't numb your [buttocks] with anything, it was the craziest pain ever. I felt like I was gonna pass out. I felt a little dizzy. And it leaks for, like, five days."(Caity Weaver, GQ Magazine). This quote was stated by one of the most popular female entertainers, Cardi. B. In this interview the Gold and Platinum selling rapper recounts the dark, mysterious moment she allowed a stranger to inject into her buttocks an illegal substance used for making that part of the body bigger Purje, Lauren. “Status.”  End of the Line (Drawings and Things) , Gale Learning , Dec. 2015, www.laurenpurje.com/comics/.  This behavior is not unusual in the Entertainment industry it is deemed necessary in order to sell and make millions. Blog Post 7- Presentation Review

Image
WHEN YOU HAVE TO PRESENT!!! I felt more nervous than a box of rocks on crack. Okay that previous sentence was a joke everyone no need to call 12. I honestly felt like I was rushing my presentation, its something about when your body starts to panic everything you do is sped up times 100. I think before presenting anything to a class, a little practice is needed. I think the appearance of the Power Point was pretty nice, the colors weren't too dark but not bright either, I don't think I wanted it to be too colorful, because the topic of the essay discussed negative ways that social media impacts the lives of women. I think my time was 7 minutes, 2 minutes the over the original 5 minutes. I did notice that in some of my peers presentations, some people decided to present with gum in their mouth. THAT'S A NO! I also think that the body positions were more so navigated to the board than speaking loud and clear and facing the class. It is okay to read certain things of

Blog Post 6-How Has Social Media Negatively Impacted the Lives of Young Women

Image
Social Media has negatively impacted the lives of many young women in plethora of ways, physically, psychologically and also socially. There has been an increased amount of cases dealing with suicidal attempts to eating disorders and the constant battle of comparing realistic pictures of ourselves to the photo-shopped version of others. Social media has given society the stamp of approval for such behavior to continue. Have You Been Targeted as Yet? Teenagers have endured enough stress with having to worry about various body types that are approved by society via magazines, television shows, but most importantly the internet. As young ladies view the typical  trend-setter bodies they are forced to conform to these  unrealistic body types, especially when they are in the midst of puberty. I was really interested on doing this topic because of past experiences in high school and about past as well as current stories about this trend.  Have you ever seen that one user on your social m

Blog Post 5- "Stand By Me"

Image
As I watched the video "Stand By Me" the author used different techniques to portray the bigger message of the song. The video opened with two men, it did not look like they had much because of the way they were dressed. As they started to sing the song, I noticed that they're voices were really cracked it was not your typical pleasant sounding voice, which further sent a powerful message already letting the audience know that all people are welcomed.  The voice being cracked and harsh really signifies the hardships of life and you can really hear how the singer belted out the notes, that he wanted the people walking around near or far to hear his voice within the song and capture the same love as they did.  The video transitioned from the men singing outside in the midst of the community to across different countries of the world, where different musicians are also playing and singing the same song, this movement across the globe was spectacular to witness. The co

Blog Post #4- Violent Media is Good for Kids

Image
I n Jones,"Violent Media is Good for Kids", he challenges the usual concept that violent media is not appropriate for adolescent viewing. The author expounds on different anecdotal stories in his life and and those surrounding which further exemplifies how violent media is used as a source of release from pressure built within the mind. He implies that shielding the mind from "bad emotions" cause more harm than good in the future. After viewing violent media kids will move forward through life "unafraid of his desires" (Jones 64). Paragraph 1-4 The author provides anecdotal stories to further illustrate, his mind set at the time."At 13 I was alone and afraid. I suffocated my deepest fears and desires under a nice-boy persona.I withdrew into passivity and loneliness. My parents, not trusting the violent world" (Jones 64). Paragraph 6 In this paragraph Jones discussed his son's difficulty to join his friends outside during physical activity

Pillar 1: Thesis Statement Located : Paragraph 3                                                                        "College fails to empower us with the skills necessary to become productive members of today's society. The author uses the Appeal of Pathos, which works great in the opening because it is charged with emotion/passion and attracts the emotional aspect of the audience who will read the essay. At any given point there is a college student that may feel this way and this is a perfect way to grab their attention. Pillar 2: Evidence Located: Paragraph 2-6 Paragraph 2-3: "Our creativity, innovation, and curiosity are schooled out of us. We think of college as a stepping-stone ...College fails to empower us..." Paragraph 4- "College is expensive. The College Board Policy Center found that the cost of public university tuition is about 3.6 times higher today." "Sociology professors Richard Arum and Josipa Roksa say that 36 percent

Russian Probe

The 1st Video - Sarah Sanders states that the president that was a heaux and his accusations were ludicrous, this sympathy card which is what Ms.Sanders is doing this technique definitely falls within the lines of Appealing to Pathos. As the CNN reported questions her on a particular question which is in the reference toward the President's job, she is very adamant about not over stepping her boundaries and by-passing the question which then leads into her briefly discussing the President' responsibilities and this is where she Appeals to Ethos and  Logos. According to Ms.Sander's credentials/profession , she is then trusted with her commentary but can also answer the question without answering the question. After clarifying to the CNN reporter, her responsibility, she lists out actual facts that defended the President which contradicted was mentioned earlier on. http://insider.foxnews.com/2017/10/26/sarah-sanders-white-house-believes-muellers-trump-russia-will-be-closed-so
